Shakespeare uses a ship metaphor to communicate the idea of fate being in control of romeos life.
act 1 scene 5
romeo “but he that hath the steerage of my course direct my sail!”
romeo is comparing himself to a a ship and that someone else is in control and he will go wherever it takes him even if it kills him, which it does.
