The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is about a man called Benjamin Button who is born the day after world war one ends with an unusual condition. he is born old (but ages backwards), his father throws him out, he is taken in by a couple that run a rest home, he meets this girl called daisy, he goes to work on a tug boat one day, he travels around with the tug boat for a while, while in Murmansk he meets some random old lady who tried to swim across the English channel once, he gets shot at by a u-boat in ww2 he goes back to the us and finds daisy again who is now working as a ballet dancer in noo yorke, they then get married or whatever and produce an clone of them and then he leaves to get milk and never comes back he goes on holiday to India for like 10 years, then when he gets back turns out shes married to some other guy so he leaves again ,hes about 20 by this point and then when daisy next sees him hes like 10 and has dementia and she looks after him till he dies of young? old? idk. In the movie the story is told by someone reading a diary that Benjamin wrote about his life.

I find it hard to describe how Benjamin is as a person because nothing that would show character really happens. He seems extremely average. He leaves his wife and child, i think so that they don’t have to look after him when he becomes young. When he leaves his wife it fells like he is trying to be a hero. His reaction to having his condition seems very calm for what it is. – He is born the day after WW1 ends.

I feel like you don’t learn much about daisy except for the fact that she is the love interest. It seems like she likes Benjamin right from the start. Her and Benjamin meet when she is 8 years old. – She is a ballet dancer. I think her career as a dancer is important to her but i cant really tell. The fact that she looks after him when shes really old and hes a baby shoes that shes kind or that she still cares about him a lot

One key meaning of the text is: ageing is usually something we take for granted but by having Benjamin age backwards it makes us think about it more. Another idea in the text is: make the most of your situation

Some similarities between this and the great Gatsby are: they both include a woman named daisy who is a central love interest to main characters, in Benjamin Button water is a metaphor for something like in the great Gatsby. Both stories comment on how we can’t get away from time, in Gatsby it is jay Gatsby who cant escape his past, in Benjamin button he cant get away from the way that time works for him.
